Yew

Yew is located in the northwest region of Britannia, on the edge of the Deep Forest. The pastoral city is named for the dense population of Yew trees that surround it. Deep within the woods is hallowed Empath Abbey, home to diligent monks, makers of the best wine in the land. Yew is less of a city than it is a collection of many homesteads. Dirt roads connect most of the buildings, lending credence to the fact that it is a community, but often a considerable distance lies between the house of the various residents. Yew is often hailed as the City of Justice, one of three cities in Britannia representing the Three Principles of Virtue.
Most of the houses are simple wooden cabins, although the abbey is made of wood and stone/plaster to give it durability. The High Court, which also houses the land's second largest jail, is made entirely of reinforced stone, and looks like a smaller version of Castle Britannia, the home of Lord British.
Yew in Europa
Despite bearing the title City of Justice, Yew is a wild and dangerous domain. Order is maintained by the Guardsmen Militia, and though the many threats of the past have since scattered or been defeated, the dense woodlands are still inhospitable to those foolish enough to stray from the King's Highway. Orcs stride through their ancient clan lands, The Undead still stalk from shadow-to-shadow, and lawless thugs and criminals remain a constant threat.
The untamed borders of Yew are dominated by Stonekeep, a bustling fort at the long disputed crossroads of Yew. All who wish to pass into the muddy streets of the town-proper must first make their way through this old and battle-worn stronghold. Given the strict rules of the Avatarian Church and the zealous enforcement of King's Law by the Militia, many merchants prefer to enter the town via it's old and rotting quayside.
Its poor reputation teamed with the very real threats posed along the journey make Yew somewhat isolated from the rest of Britannia, both politically, culturally, and economically. Foreign merchants are rarer than in other cities, and the native populace prefer to keep to themselves. Elves, wytches, and rebels are unwelcome.
Roleplaying Communities
Throughout Europa's history Yew has played host to a variety of role-playing guilds and communities. Most notably were those that made up the Crossroads of Yew.
