Deacon van Cocidius IV, more commonly known as just "Van" is the 38 year old Mayor of Trinsic. He's known mostly though for his position as the Lord Baron for the Republic of Vesper for two terms, the last of which he managed to fend off a rebelling Escaflowne before being outcast and branded a traitor to the City.
Van is also thought to of been on of the most active pirates before the dampened end on Piracy, but has since had to give it up since marrying his wife Madeline Warmbow who herself gave him two children, twins, Ember and Dante.
Some of his most memorable acts in Britannia would be the rennovation of the Sosarian Olympic Games, changing the title of Baron of Vesper, to Supreme Chancellor for the Republic of Vesper, and his current expedition into Ilshenar.

Background
Early Life
Van was born in the suburban area of Britain, the son of Gloria Susanna Silverson, a barmaid, and Deacon van Cocidius III, a fisherman who once worked in piracy. He has one brother, Dwayne (trader), and another from a previous relationship on his fathers side called Jerome (bard), and a sister called Aurora. Van's father came to Britain from a small forgotten island to the south west of the map called Galilee, during his time as a pirate. Upon his time in Britain, he met Gloria and they fell in love. Two years later, baby Van was born. At the age of six, his father took Van on a fishing trip just off the coasts of Britain, but they were caught by Pirates. Van's father was executed by the Captain of the ship, Danny G. Walker due to some unfinished business between himself and his father. He took pity on Van though and brought him aboard the ship as a cabin boy.
At the age of 11, the ship Van had been spending his time on Captained by Danny G. Walker was caught in a storm and destroyed in the rocky coasts of Galilee. Van was washed ashore pratically unharmed. Upon returning to Galilee he was reunited with his fathers side of the family and lived with his Auntie Salae and his half-brother and sister, Jerome and Aurora.
Into Adulthood
At the age of 17, Van decided he wanted to travel and like his father did at his age, he got a job working on the ships for the Galilean Trading Company. By time he reached 21, he was made Captain of one of the ships, his very first, The Midnight Breeze. Not long into his time as Captain of the ship, he was suaded into piracy and smuggled slaves and drugs from port to port all in the name in gold.
By time he reached 23, he had forsaken the Galilean Trading Company altogether and was a full-time pirate with own crew and renamed The Midnight Breeze to The Midnight Mugger. But things didn't work out too well as three years later he was arrested and branded by Royal Guards for piracy, having his ship burnt, and his crew hanged. With no ship, no crew, Van was released by the Royal Guards, thinking that he losing everything was enough punishment for him.
The Indomitable
Van was soon on the seas though after he was recruited as part of a crew upon The Indomitable, captained by "Wesley". And due to the two of them getting on fairly well, Van was promoted to First Mate. Wesley enjoyed to play with piracy aswell, and the two of them did the odd jobs in Trinsic, Buccaneers Den, and Vesper before the two of them got drunk and managed to crash the ship into the cliffs of Haven.
Again without a ship, the two of them decided to get "normal" jobs to pay for the repairs of the ships. Whilst Wesley dissapeared, Van first started as a mercenary against the Ophidian attacks in Vesper. Once that was over he then moved to work with Lyria in the Collegium before stabbing them in the back and joining their enemies, the Order of Haven where he met his first wife, Eyen, who gave him a daughter named Catalina. He later killed Eyen, and sold Catalina off to the forest people..
Exiled and Executed
After his time in the Order of Haven, Van followed most of the members following the short disband and became a guard for the Dragoni Templars, a religion he thought nothing of but the money was good. Soon enough though he started to get irritated from it all and murdered one of their young priestesses. Being caught by Vesperian Militia, he was executed without trial. his execution was no more than an axe to the chest, and left to bleed to death. Amazingly though, Van managed a full recovery and after some time in hiding, he returned to Vesper and got a job in the Swaggers Inn.
Vesper
During his time at the Swaggers Inn, he met some important people in his life. Jackal Verilax, his best friend and partner in crime. "Mandy" his insane girlfriend and fiance who gave him his second born before he killed her. His daughter, named Jasmine was given to one of his close friends to raise. He was also a key member in the underground assassin organisation known as "The Brotherhood".
Van's only area of work was trade. But once the Baron of Vesper, Olk Samsca, was ready to step down, Van was there to take part in the elections. He worked hard gathering voters all over the land to help him into power. During his election campaign he also met his current wife, Madeline Warmbow, and they started dating. Winning the election and beating Elliot Heath by a landslide, Van promised to keep Vesper a safe and peaceful town. And apart from a little scuffle from Skara, he delivered. He also brought back the Sosarian Olympics during his reign at this time.
Marrying Madeline, and with news that they were soon to have their own family, Van resigned from the position of Baron to look after his wife. He stayed in Vesper though, despite his family now living in Trinsic, he stayed Loyal to those he trusted. And when the time came again, he stepped into position after Elliot Heath's assassination and was made Baron for the second time (so far the only person to do so). During his second reign as Baron, he changed the whole layout of Vesper, changing the position from Baron, to Supreme Chancellor, making Vesper a more formal Republic state. He also set down the foundations for the Vesper you see now, no longer a militia, now an army.
After civil war though, Van was forced to step down from Chancellor and Escaflowne voted into power. Not long after that he was also fired from the Swaggers and forced into exile. And so he moved home to his family in Trinsic.
Trinsic
Upon moving to Trinsic, he contemplated retirement but decided against it. And thus he applied to join Trinsic's guardforce, something he personally said "shat on every inch of pride I had". Despite that claim, he stuck to his position in the guardforce gaining two promotions to Armsman before handing in his resignation and running for Mayor of Trinsic. He was the only runner and was voted into the position regardless.
He's now the man pulling the strings and reforming Trinsic into the great Loyalist Town it once was, representing on all frontiers.
