The Red Hand (abbr. Thf) was a mercenary company consisting of, mainly, disguised Black Caste members that came to some prominence during the rebel's Yew Invasion. Employed by Klion D'Gar to assist in the defence of Yew, the Red Hand were present in most of the major skirmishes of the short-lived war. Yew and it's allies were eventually triumphant.

History

The Red Hand was originally spawned for three reasons; income, information and the elimination of competition. Firstly, by posing as Bounty Hunters it was possible for The Black Caste to legally wage war on it's then nearest rival, the Highwaymen of Abbeywood. Moreover, the Caste were even able to take payment for this war on their enemy, as the Guardsmen Militia offered modest bounties for highwaymen scalps, bringing the Caste an "honest" wage. The Red Hand was also an attempt to worm the Caste into the Militia's confidence, though a previously poor relationship with Tel'mar had tarnished the Militia's opinion of mercenaries, and no such bond was ever truly apparent between the guardsmen and the Hand.

Desperate times do, however, call for desperate measures and when the rebel forces of Cove and Vesper landed on Yewish soil with a plot to take the loyalist town, the Hand were employed by Lord D'Gar to aid the defence of his land. It was here the Hand came to the public eye, as the enigmatic Captain Autumn was made, along with Taggart, a Commander of the Yewish defence. Previous experiences skirmishing alongside the Militia in Trinsic benefited, and the Guardsmen Militia, Red Hand and loyalist knights eventually pushed back the invading rebels and expelled them from Yew.

Since the campaign, the Hand has remained relatively dormant.
