About
The Bujin'Kai (TBK), was founded by Bujin Sho. Originally, the guild were a group of friends who had known and met one another through playing Ultima Online. Bujin Sho, Wench (later known as Tenshinage), VanQua, Aphelion, Airwalker (later known as Jin Kazama), Salamon, Sheatano, Ikai'fassaki and his real-life brother (name?), Wilmo and DanielTadd. The guild itself had no prospects of ever being a role-playing guild, but it's leader Bujin Sho and members DanielTadd(later known as Morihei Ueshiba and Eiji Shinjo), Aphelion and zelich regularly encouraged it. This in-turn created a semi-IC/OOC environment.
Bujin Sho took the initiative to move the guild into the application phase for The Crossroads of Yew (CoY). This received a mixed reception from its members; some revelled in the idea to adhere to a strict roleplaying community whilst others, who disliked the lack of freedom, soon became distant from the guild and quit.
TBK soon prospered within CoY, but not without several minor/major setbacks; both within its infrastructure and within the community:
- Character Names: Several early members refused to make 'new characters' as the "leveling-up" process was considered to be "work" and were content on using their original non-Japanese-named instead. Respectively this created the "Gaijin Division" (or foreign division). It was met with a deal of skepticism from elitist CoYers and complaints often arised; for the Gaijin-Divison were comprised of 7xGM characters and could easily turn the tide of any battle in TBK's favour. Bujin Sho later disbanded the division, which in turn lead to several of its original members leaving.
- Originality: The Guardsmen Militia hosted a practically flawless guild structure of hierarchy and divisions that subsequent joining guilds would imitate (the "cookie-cutter" for guild creation). As a result TBK were practically Samurai-themed guardsmen in its early CoY days.
- Hometown: Nihon became the adopted name for TBK's homeland, with the Sake Inn at its core. Unlike the founding guilds homelands that benefitted from a close proximity of several houses and castles, Nihon had a relatively large border that encompassed ten notable houses and landmarks. This resulted in a never-ending Out-Of-Character despute with other guild leaders in concern with 'border rules'.
- Leadership: Bujin Sho became absent over periods of time that stretched for weeks and months. Being the single appointed leader and spokesmen: questions, concerns, plot-events and complaints were never dealt with or answered. During this time Morihei Ueshiba and Tenshinage picked up the reins. Together the pair gave TBK a new stronger-themed direction, with events, language, structure, weapon useage, etc. In time Bujin Sho returned and wanted to leave The Crossroads of Yew with a want to take its members with him to another community (ERPA). Morihei Ueshiba and Tenshinage refused. After many a heated debate Bujin Sho left, taking with him some of the original members, whilst Morihei Ueshiba and Tenshinage remained.
The Bujin'Kai developed a strong bond with The Guardsmen Militia and a great rapport existed between its leaders. TBK and GRD co-existed peacefully: taking part in expeditions to dungeons, competing in friendly war-games, sharing cultural events and ceremonies.
The infamous "OOC hostilies" after a break-down in communication between leadership. Said break-down occured during a Avatarian ceremony in which the Church visited Nihon to preach their beliefs and ways. Originally, the respective leaders had planned the event, assuring that TBKs members need not "convert" from their practiced believes of Shinto and there would not be a need to enforce a new role-playing aspect onto the guild. Upon arriving, the clergy of the chruch demanded that all persons of Nihon denounce their ways and follow the Avatar. Morihei Ueshiba left the ceremony angered but was cut-down unarmed by The Guardsmen Militia, as were his fellow Samurai.
Tenshinage demanded an explanation for the sudden change in relations, but was rewarded with silence and uncertainty. Lewis, the previous leader of GRD had grown absent and so questions could not be answered. As it could not be dealt with OOC, Tenshinage lead a force of Samurai into Stonekeep to demand answers and an apology. Her attempts were thwarted by Klion D'Gar, who deemed the armed Samurai as an act of war and promptly lead the Guardsmen to strike them down. This was the beginning of the famed/infamous Border Wars.
