Serpent's Hold

Serpent's Hold is an ancient and domineering construct of sturdy stone and thick-laden mortar, it's history entwined with the Kingdom's rise, and the rule of Lord British. The so-called "Stronghold of Courage" can be found to the south-and-east of the Cape of Heroes, upon the largest of Valorian Islands. In centuries passed Serpent's Hold has been both the most potent symbol of Britannian military might, and at times the other Chivalric heart of Sosaria. It is a single, compound structure, with an internal castle to house the residing Castellan, officers, instructors, and noteworthy guests, with an armoury, infirmary, and mess-hall to boot. Outside of that, but within the keep's walls, are the barracks, the smithy, the stables, and the training grounds.

Serpent's Hold is less a city than it is a fortress. Although the keep has been there for some time, very few buildings have sprung up around it. The land is not particularly favorable for farming or hunting, so no one has come to the keep seeking protection. Until recently it was the foremost training grounds in Britannia, with almost every officer of the Royal Army spending a stint behind the walls. Indeed, with so many fresh faces passing in-and-out of the Hold's grounds, the only constant garrison were those aged veterans and loyal tradesmen bound to the Castellan. In old times, it was home to the now exinct Order of the Silver Serpent.

Kaldorian Occupation

For some time, the Army of Kaldor resided in the Hold, making it their base for Britannian operations. After the army's withdrawl to the lands of Gorimdor, Serpent's Hold continues its deterioration as a once proud outpost of the Kingdom.
