Origins
Though surely incredibly old, Sakoths history prior to his joining the Severed Heads Clan is ambiguous. Saktoth has claimed many things about himself, the most consistant of them being that he is a decietful, manipulative liar. He claims to be immortal, that the spell Mondain used to summon (or create) the orcs brought him also, and that it is his duty and destiny to ensure the material destruction of Sosaria (or his escape from it, or both). He has also said his only interest is the prosperity of the Orcish race, that he is a guardian who attempts to ensure they survive in a world mostly hostile towards them.
The Severed Heads Orc Clan
Saktoth was a member of the Severed Heads Orc Clan, under Baghtru, the Warboss. After their abortive move to Cove, he became their leader.
The Dark Alliance
Saktoth was instrumental in the formation of The Dark Alliance which included at any one time numerous Dark Elf, Undead, Vampire, Cultist and Necromancer guilds.
White Saktoth
When Rilla Tahkista caught Saktoth and his Orcs defiling the shrine she had built to her father, she struck him with a dagger and cursed him with 'compassion', that he might be burdened with the understanding of the consequences of his actions. Concerned how this might effect him, Saktoth used his magic to split off the part of his personality effected by the curse and bury it in his identity. Saktoth was convinced this had worked when he suffered no further consequences.
Unknown to him the other part of his personality, a kind, gentle, compassionate pacifist, had taken on a life of its own. Occasionally it would take over his body and seek out the company and assistance of humans, who reacted with initial hostility towards this white-clad, friendly, orc. When Saktoth became aware of what was happening, he set about destroy this White Saktoth, draining it of energy and weakning it. Unable to respond in kind due to its pacifist nature it sought out Rilla Tahkista, asking that she find a way to seperate it from Saktoth. Feeling responsible, she agreed, telling White Saktoth to mount a dark altar that had appeared in Magincia and use the energies of its destruction to split himself from Saktoth.
This plan suceeded, and White Saktoth disappeared and was not seen afterwards. After this loss of a part of his personality, Saktoth became rather unstable. He became more agressive and malicious, delighting in immolation of innocent animals or the torture of humans, and behaving at times irrationally. It is reasonable to speculate that the resultant Saktoth was not at all the origional creature, but a Black Saktoth that was created as a result of Rillas curse and his own magic.
The Nohkmahr Gate
Saktoth set about creating a gate made of bone and blackrock in Nohkmahr through which he claimed he could summon destruction on Sosaria, and also offer escape for his Orcs and their allies. The construction of this gate took many years and was halted when the Custodes Fati and their allies attacked Nohkmahr and stole the Book Of Gates Saktoth was using. Eventually he managed to reclaim the book, and started to rally allies for a final conflict that he claimed would see them either entering a new world, or destroyed in the old. Many people including the Naelothians, and Nujel'mites, were convinced they had no choice but to agree to fight alongside Saktoth or face the prospect of destruction. Whether he actually intended to honour his promise is debatable.
One final ingredient was lacking before the gate could be opened, and that was violence. The gates magic was fueled by violence, death and pain and Saktoth knew how to get it. He went around to his allies and enemies alike, and told him he would be opening the gate on a certain day, and that they should join him in his new world or perish. Predictably, on the day he had said he would open the gate, a huge army arrived at the Nohkmahr tower to attempt to stop him by force. The ensuing battle allowed Saktoth to finally open the gate. At the last moment, White Saktoth appeared on the top of Nohkmahr Tower, and pushed Saktoth into the gate. Confusion reigned among the orcs and their allies, not understanding what had happened. Saktoth never emerged again from the gate, and the Book of Gates was taken, supposedly to study if there was a way to bring Saktoth back or open the gate and follow him.
The gate still stands in Nohkmahr, and the Mysterious book is in the possession of Kraadu.
The Player and OOC history
Saktoth was played by Oscar Evans, an Australian who started the character at around the age of 14. He came to dislike the character for its elements of juvenile powerplay and one-dimensional 'evilness', but felt that consistancy was too important to change the character dramatically. Luckily, most other people didnt seem to mind (Or indeed, notice).
He joined the Shadowclan and had been playing only a few weeks when was approached by Baghtru, soon to be founder of the Severed Heads, who wished some graphics to be made for the clans website. Saktoth began to contribute ideas to the clan, and quickly gained a leadership position as 'Grand Wozza' (A title and position he invented himself). Only able to play every second weekend, Saktoth was initially in danger of losing his position within the clan to another wozza, Z'zlug, due to inactivity. This situation was remedied when he began to play more frequently. When Baghtru left the clan, Saktoth was left unexpectedly as the default leader, a position he held for 5 years. He went on to become both the longest serving member of and longest serving Guild Leader in the ERPA.
