Europa is perhaps best known for its constellation of role-playing associations. These are primarily associations of several guilds dedicated to role-playing, with the common aim of generating plotlines and organizing quests and events. Due to the many conflicts of interest and playstyle, Europa has been home to many such associations. The three most prominent ones, however, being Europa Role Players Association (abbr. ERPA), Crossroads of Yew (abbr. CoY) and Community of Roleplayers, Europa (abbr. CoRE).
Today, all role-playing associations on Europa have disbanded. A few years after the Crossroads of Yew disbanded in late 2005, the de-facto end of the Community of Roleplayers, Europa — being the two remaining associations — was announced by the closure of the infamous CoRE GMs board, a forum on Forums4Games.
The Europa role-playing scene, however, continues to enjoy renewed interest by new players. The community, though not organized in any formal association, is focused around two forum boards (respectively on UOForums and Forums4Games). For some time, the MoongatesWiki has also provided both new and experienced role-players with information on the current ongoings.
