Rebels (Europa)

From MoongatesWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

In the politics of the Europa shard's mainstream role-playing community, the cities of Sosaria can be divided into two greater camps; Loyalist and Rebel. The Loyalists – as their name suggests – remain devoted to the King, or more accurately the Great Council and interregnum government. The rebellion traces it's origins to the city of Vesper, still considered by many to be the heartland of the secessionist movement, whose governors were first to denounce the King and his Council and declare their independance. When Lord British dissappeared, the loyalists found that they were without a central figure to lead them, strengthening the rebels' cause, and - eventually - leading to yet more rebellions further afield. The cities of Minoc and Cove were often the scenes of battle during the rebellion's early years, and through Vesper's influence rebel movements grew there, too. Eventually Cove would become an entirely sovereign nation-state, shedding not just the Royal yoke, but that of Vesper itself. In this respsect the rebels might be said to have factions of their own, not unlike their loyalist counterparts. Though not technically rebels themselves, the city-states of Magincia and Haven have previously joined the likes of Vesper and Cove in the fight against the King's forces, to protect their own interests.

The last time the rebels truly stood shoulder-to-should was during the brutal and hard-fought Minoc Campaign.
