Orc

Orcs are the oldest and fiercest foes of humanity, but these days have been largely driven into underground refuges. In appearance, orcs are typically squat, swarthy creatures, with incredibly ugly faces and a muscular, man-like bodies. It has long been said that they eat the flesh of men, but they also harass men for gold, not just for meat. They are a cruel and rapacious race, and the surface is better for their absence, but there are those who say that we may expect a great resurgence of orcish aggression in the near future.

Races
In Ultima Online there is really only one orc race. But in many roleplayer circles it has been established that there are at least two sub-races of orcs; Cave orcs and Forest orcs. The differences between the two are debatable, if any, neither have any substantial characteristics that separate one as superior to the other. They do, however, draw from two very different Out Of Character sources. Forest Orc guilds are primarily based on the orcs of Warhammer; hulking, bestial, and slow-witted. Cave orc guilds, however, generally take their material from Tolkien's orcs; calculating, brutal and sadistic.Forest Orcs
Forest orcs are typically a lighter-skinned race of orcs that mostly inhabit the forests of the world. Forest orcs are considered to resemble bandits and raiders rather than an organised army as they live in small, isolated communities, and thus aren't considered much of a threat. The most notable, and probably oldest, band of forest orcs were the Severed Heads Clan who were, prior to their destruction, notorious throughout the realm. Forest orcs are also, on average, slighty taller and thinner than their cave orc cousins. Orcs of this race communicate through broken English/Sosarian (the common tounge).
Cave Orcs
Cave orcs are typically a darker-skinned and dirtier race of orcs that live in caves, mines and general dark places of the world, being scared of, or just having a strong dislike for, the sun. Cave orcs may be shorter than forest orcs due to navigating small, cramped spaces underground and also more muscular for the same reason. The Cave orcs of Tolagâl are well known for being a well equipped army that terrorized Yew for years. Orcs of this race commonly use Black Speech.
Other Races
In Tolagâl lore there are an additional two sub-races of cave orc:
- The orcs known as the Uruk-Hai are a tall, muscular race of orcs considered natural born leaders, brutal warriors and superior to all other Orcs, at least in Tolagâl society.
- The fierce, but rare, Ologijaki are a race of ogre-like orcs that were created by the orc magician Kraadu using alchemy. They are a fairly slow breed, in both mind and movement, but are gigantic, merciless fighters that would just as easily rip their orc masters apart as an enemy in a fit of rage. Luckily few survived the experiments.
