Mysterious book
From MoongatesWiki
The Mysterious Book that once belonged to Saktoth, leader of the Severed Heads Clan. It is now thought to remain in the hands of the last Orc-king of Tolagâl, Kraadu, whose whereabouts are unknown. The book has also been called The Book of Gates, due to its use by Saktoth in the construction of the Nohkmahr Gate.
Appearance
The book is bound in thick black leather and inscribed with runes. Its pages are made of hide or vellum, each page from a different animal, including one page each of Orc, Human, Demon and Dragon skin and many made from hides not recognisable as any Sosarian creature. It is written in a script comprised of many tiny scratch-like marks. Saktoth has claimed each page is inked in the blood of the creature on whose skin it is written.
History
Very little is known about the book, only that it contains thousands of pages of ancient spells, lore and history all written in an unknown language. The language within its pages is incredibly difficult to decipher, though the book itself is a powerful magical artifact regardless of its contents.
The book first came to notice when Saktoth began to build the Nohkmahr Gate. When the Custodes Fati and their allies heard of the gate, they laid siege to Nohkmahr and stole the book. The book burnt and caused convulsions and sickness in those who touched it, and it was only pried free of its pedestal by Shri of the Custodes with great difficulty.
The book was kept locked inside the Spiritwood University for some time, frustrating Saktoths construction of the gate (Though he claimed he didnt need the book at all). Saktoth eventually managed to trick the Custodes into returning it to him.
Uses
Its recent uses include Saktoth's failed bid to open the Nokhmahr Gate in an attempt to destroy the world. It was also recently used by Kraadu, who uncovered some lore regarding an ancient relic of incredible power known only as "Za jâb raz laugshat" ('The Word of Evil').
It was used by Kraadu a second time to resurrect Marduk Akil as a vile Matgûl to prepare for his return to Tolagâl.
Whether or not Kraadu further used or managed to decipher anymore of the book is unknown.
