The former ruler of Yew, Klion D'Gar was one of the more influnetial, and indeed controversial leaders of the Guardsmen Militia. Under his guidance they emerged from the collapse of the Crossroads of Yew role-playing association intact, despite the dissappearance of several officers and the squabbles left to the remainder. It would also be under his tenure as guildmaster that the Militia would adapt as best as possible to the role-playing scene beyond Yew, forgoing certain elements of their old and quasi-sacred concept, toning down others, and adopting new ones all together. He remains a divisive figure not just in the Guardsmen Militia, but in Europa role-play as a whole.

Appearance
A tall and swarthy man of middle age. His hair was once thick and black, though now hangs limp and greying, constantly dyed to it's original dark hue or traditional Besieger red. Despite coming from a family of – admitedly wealthy – commoners, Klion has always held a certain air of the aristocrat about him, exaggerated in later years with his rise to the ranks of nobility. He wears only the most elaborate of armour, and seldom dresses in simple attire. Scars and other marks of war cover much of his body from head-to-toe, testimony to his long career of soldiering.
Background
The son of a West Britain banker, Klion was raised amongst a burgher family of significant wealth, in the capital's commercial district. Ambitious and unruly even in his youth, Klion would eventually shun his dynastic trade and turn instead to the Kingdom's – then flourishing – Royal Army. After briefly serving as a cavalryman, he found himself sent to join Lumberton's backwards peasant volunteers in Yew. Some say he was dismissed for his common birth by the blue blooded old boys that dominated the Royal Army's cavalry regiments, while others suggest that it was his life-long unmanagable attitude that saw him, in essence, discharged.
Militia Career
Klion joined the Militia while it remained in most respects a simple band of under-equipped and under-funded peasants taking the law into their own hands. Despite early infamy for insubordination and lack of discepline, Klion would eventually excell within the ranks, proving his skill and quick, tactical mind both on the field of battle and off it. He soon found himself promoted through the junior ranks, and into the iron arms of the professional Guardsman. It was during this period, when the Avatarian Church had all but collapsed, that Klion met the drowish recruit Larynda Helvyriin, whom he would later wed and build a family with. From there he joined the secretive brotherhood of the Besiegers, immersing himself in the division's culture and occult traditions, becoming First Besieger before being called forth to serve as Sergeant. While he ascended from simple soldier to officer of the Militia, Yew fell into decay and ruin, with the Meer's curse warping the town and surrounding province into a vast and disease-riddled fen. He maintained this rank for some time, playing no small role in the defeat of the Militia's remaining enemies within Yew.
Upon the retirement of Captain Stormbrow the Militia fell into a brief period of uncertainty and anarchy, creating a void at the top – a void into which the Council appointee, Guy D'Mirio would step. D'Mirio assumed the rank of Major, taking control of both the Guardsmen and plague tainted Yew as a whole. His rule was short, for when D'Mirio announced plans to dissolve the Militia it's officers privately rebelled, and shortly there after the much despised Major vanished, rumoured dead. They, the sergeants, corporals, and divisional firsts, would abruptly take the helm. After some lengthy debate and bickering with the Council, many of the Militia's officers found themselves elevated to nobility or forced to retire, while Klion was named commander-in-chief of Yew's forces. The Protectorate would follow.
Rule as Lord Protector
As both governor of Yew and commander of its Militia, Klion held greater power than any of his predecessors, with the ranks of Major and Duke combined in his person. This period of martial rule endured for some weeks, though finally ended with Klion's de facto coronation as Lord Protector, a process in which the Avatarian Church of Yew, the Provincial Nobility, and the Officers of the Militia all became loosely bound to the House of D'Gar. In some respects this established Klion as a dangerously powerful despot, though in others it allowed for the survival of Yew, the consolidation of Militia power, and the resource-demanding proccess by which the plague harbouring swamps would soon be dredged. Those first years saw something of renaissance for the province and it's protectors, with Klion leading them at last out of the dark and bloody age that had preceeded and into the wider, but no less war-torn affairs of Greater Britannia.
