Appearance
Hognak stands at 4.9 feet tall with short legs, a crooked back and as many other orcs long apelike arms, almost reaching the ground when he wanders around. At the end of these arms hang steady and clammy hands, but always swift to grasp throats or snatch gold coins and jewels! Even though he looks like a miserable and wretched creature he’s quite strong and fast. He carries a notable bow made of an unknown beast's horn that he uses with great zeal. Hognak is constantly slobbering and his impressive teeth can be seen at all times: long and sharp, to gnaw bones, and pulls off large chunk of meats from dead (or living) animals, or humanoid creatures.
Background
Prior to Vrashk's conquering of the Tolagâl valley, many years ago, small bands of orcs inhabited the dark woods of the valley. They weren’t organised as Vrashk’s army and had no ambition, except for the usual raids for fun to bring sorrow and fear to the human lands. These raids also served to bring back food, gold, slaves and other belongings into their gloomy lairs. In these times Hognak was very young, yet already cunning.
But these simple times came to an end when the armies of Tolagâl arrived in the valley, and its leader, Vrashk, claimed both the land and the belongings of the lessers orcs for himself. War was waged against the small clans and Hognak swiftly understood which side would win and joined Vrashk's ranks as a scout. Of course, the war was won and Vrashk proclaimed himself king of the orcs. After many years, working like a dog for his masters, Hognak was given the command of a small group, composed of potential traitors and elf-friends (considered a great insult for an orc). Unluckily his group crossed the path of a large patrol of hobbits (Such were proliferating in Yew, years ago, it’s even said that there was once a hamlet populated by such creatures), and the whole group was slaughtered. Hognak escaped. But, he had accomplished his mission, without knowing it. The Ashdurbûk did not want potential risks to his throne to go unchecked. For his service in ridding his king of traitors, he was granted the rank of Ushatar ("Warrior"). Within the ranks of the army Hognak met his rivals: Bardush, Shmarrkaragh, Xeltukh and Kurshnak. As a Ushatar he fought countless battles and skirmishes, both in and out of the orc cave, and far away in human lands. Within these times he defended the gates of the cave, preparing assaults on the humans lands and launching them, burning many farms, preparing vicious ambushes, kidnapings, and many other malicious acts.
Towards Vrashk's departure from Tolagâl Hognak was appointed to hold the rank of Burznutu ("Night Hound" or "Scout") to keep his wicked, ever watchful eyes on his fellow orcs and serve the king at the best of his abilities.
Hognak departed Tolagâl when Vrashk and his main army did and, to this day, serves loyally by his side.
Work Description/Lifestyle
Hognak currently holds the rank of Burznutu, being constantly in the shadows, he spies on his fellow orcs, reporting those who speak out against his king to higher ranking orcs such as the Uruk Hai. His position brings him exciting missions scouting outside the Ashdurbûk's territory and gathering information on his enemies. It is a well known fact that all Burznuti are deadly archers and excellent intelligence gatherers.
Personality
Hognak is sly, crude and loyal. He is incredibly arrogant and constantly boasts of his superior marksmanship to lesser orcs. If they don't agree, he either shoots them or reports them for treason. Hognak is not an orc to be crossed!
