Gokenin

Role

The Gokenin are the generals of the dokoro, these people hold considerably great power and wealth. These are the men that run the dokoro in the absence of the daimyo. They hold the power to burn villages and order familys to death, these men are considerd almost as deadly as the daimyo himself. For anyone to obtain this rank who was not born into a samurai family is impossible, only those of real samurai blood can earn this right to lead the dokoro into many a full scale wars. Because the gokenin also hold great power of ordering people to their death they also hold great power to reward those dokoro members with great honourable gifts should he deem them worth rewarding.

Short Story

With the recent outburst of treachery by Takeda lord Honzu still longed to make an example out of him. He wanted it to be know throughout his land that anyone who dares speak out to his rule shall be punnished to the full. He turned to his Gokenin a large fat oaf of a man who had barely managed to rise from where he sat whilst Takeda offended Lord Honzu ordered that he commit seppuku come sunrise the next day. A Gokenin should of been ready and should of killed a man that spoke out as Takeda did. He then placed Yoshi in the position as Gokenin and demanded that he have his friends head posted in the center of the village as a warning to all that go against his rule. Despite the loss of a great freind, Yoshi did as he was ordered and lived with the pain of having to kill his friend.
