Gerrick Adarastos
From MoongatesWiki
Gerrick Adarastos hailed from Magincia, born and raised by a family of well to do merchants who carried the title of patricians. It was said that his family engaged in the diamond trade of which the island was known of, although there are no sources to verify this.
Early years
At his late teens, he left the island of Magincia to pursue the life of a bard, archer and trader. He travelled the mainland and eventually his path lead him to Yew, chased by orcs and other aggressive creatures. Having the skill of only a journeyman, he was assisted in his fight by the guildmistress of the Merchants of Yew, Dellan, who was quick to propose his signing up with the local union. Eager for adventure and new experiences, he joined the guild and with the combined work of Dellan, Angel, Raf , Turnip and others, they managed to bring the guild to a level of success.
However, after a period of time, the guild declined, and Gerrick, with the permission of Dellan, moved the guild to the Felluca facet of Yew and especially to the town of Dreamstone, under a new name: the Yew Mercantile League. There they attempted a series of caravan routes and exploration expeditions to chart the lands, though without much success.
The Magincian Period
Around that time, a letter arrived from Magincia, which referred to his father’s passing and the need of his presence back to the homeland. Gerrick left Dreamstone with a few numbered friends and established the Magincia Merchant League, hoping to put to use his family fortune into new ventures. This new prospect did not last for long, as the lack of a strong ruling force was obvious, and if trade was to prosper, it needed an evident figurehead. Thus Gerrick, from an upper class patrician and Merchant Prince, adopted the title of Prince of the isle, and began a series of actions, which spotted the isle again into the world scene. He opened the borders with the other cities, organized festivals and called to guilds from the mainland to inhabit his island. His plans were put to a halt, due to a need to resume his studies, and so found Montac Truentas, who assumed the title of Lord of Magincia to co-rule in his stead.
With sporadic comebacks, Gerrick oversaw the work done and how the island progressed. Into that era , the army was modernized and the higher ranking ministers bore the titles of Senators in attachment with their work ( e.g. Senator of the City, for Mayor).
In a hazy timeline, and as rumored with the death of his son , Gerrick left again and instituted Mehdi Ibn Salaad as Archon of Magincia, who ruled the isle with his privateers (a mercenary force) for some time. During this period, the goal was to reform the Magincian society into a system of strict castes, where the serfdom would for example pay monthly tribute to the City and participate in the elections. Alas, as it happens with social engineering, the reformation failed and the rest was history.
Later occupations and his withdrawal
Gerrick eventually returned and wished this time to form his household from the start and then proceed with the city. Briefly, he resided in Britain and had abdicated the title of Prince into a more humble calling as Orator. He even assumed the role of an actor for the local Thespians, with a play regarding the Virtues that was quite successful then. For reasons unknown, Gerrick eventually left Magincia, some say even Britannia. From that time many years have passed, and no news have been heard since.
