Desert of Compassion

The Desert of Compassion is an arid inland plain, thinly populated and devoid of fertile land. It lies tucked between two sub-ranges of the Serpent's Spine Mountains, shielding the out lying grazelands and bountiful valleys from its sandy expansion. At the desert's western edge in the middle of a small oasis one will find the shrine of Compassion, for which the area is named. Isolated clans of orcs and ettins make their home in the surrounding mountains, only descending into the desert to rob pilgrims and hunt for scorpions and snakes. Little else can survive for long in this dead land.
A living sphynx by the name of Enigma dwells here, awarding a boon to those who correctly answer its riddle.
