Britannia

Britannia is the premier nation of Sosaria and its sattelite isles. Its seemingly immortal liege, Cantabrigian British, arrived as a youth from his own world via the first recorded moongate, in a period of far antiquity known as the Era of Darkness. With the aid of the "prophet" Shamino he established his realm in one of the four principle continents of ancient Sosaria, to stand as a bastion against the wicked tyrannt Mondain. Upon Mondain's final defeat by the Stranger the continents of Sosaria were pulled apart, with Lord British's realm becoming the Sosaria seen today. For some time the land was divided into a number of feuding city states, principalities, and fiefs, though Lord British successfully united the lands under the growing capital of Britain. In recent years Lord British has left his realm, for what purpose, few know. It has since been governed by the Great Council.
The Silver Serpent is seen as the protective symbol of the realm, and is also present in the royal crest of both the Order of the Silver Serpent, Lord British and the Royal Guard.
