Britain is the city of Compassion, capital city of Britannia, and former home to the King, Cantabrigian British and his philosophical rival Lord Blackthorn. It is situated beside a great river that runs from the Serpent's Spine mountain range into Britanny Bay. The wealthiest and most populous city in the realm, Britain is the seat of the shaky interregnum government – the Great Council – a gathering of representatives from Britannia's cities and client states; a bureucratic chamber of civil servants, and a core of the King's oldest companions and advisors. The city is also home to the rarely active Royal Army and the heavily guarded Royal Mint, where all coins are made. Britain is also famous for its musicians and actors, the bards, most of whom learn their art in the pompous and grandiose Lord British's Conservatory and the King's Men Theatre.

The city traces its origins to the King's earliest days in Sosaria, when Akalabeth was still recalled as the foremost nation, and Mondain's tyranny was in full swing. It was here that a then young Lord British established Castle Britannia as a base of operations against the wicked mage; drawing many displaced and vengeful Sosarians to his side. A number of small settlements sprung up around this fortress, over time merging to form the city seen today. History tells of a revolt by Lord British's own brother, Lord Robere, crushed in the Crimson Plains. So fast was the town's expansion in those early days that its walls were constantly being torn down to make way for yet more streets and districts. Whole villages would eventually grow around the city itself – known collectively as the Britannies, which in turn would rapidly become engulfed. The largest of these boroughs remains intact however, separated as it is by the winding river, now quite simply known by the name East Britain. This is the poorer part of town, home to the uneducated workers that form the bulk of the citizenry.

Due to its political importance and central location, Britain is an economic powerhouse, without equal in Sosaria. Along side the many aristocrats that make the wealthy western half their home is a vast and flourishing middle class of burghers and merchants, whose manses and properties rival those of their blue-blooded neighbours. Perhaps the most stately abode of all is that of the late arch-traitor whose name it still bears, Castle Blackthorn. Here again there is a clear divide, however, with the nobility residing primarily in the highly cultured north, and the middle class in the commercial south.

For the most part Britain's architecture is of finely crafted stonework, intermixed with sturdy wood-and-plaster. In the middle of the walled-city the colossal Castle Britannia still stands, complete with a broad moat, an inner wall, and a grand draw bridge and portcullis.

In the Felucca-facet, Britain is controlled by factions. The True Britannians control Britain.

Britain in Europa

The City of Britain (abbr. CBr), lead by prominent figures such as Mayor William Mason and Captain Lestat of the Royal Army, a sub-regiment of the townguild, used to be standard role-playing guild in Britain. Unfortunately the guild disbanded almost immediately after the closure of ERPA. In 2007, the town was also the centre of the second moot, taking place in the halls of Castle Blackthorn. The Britannia Guards have also settled nearby, building a fortified garrison north-east of the city, on the road to Vesper and Cove.

In 2009 the pretender to the throne, Lord Casca, would be ousted from power by a combined force of Britannian armies, culminating in a grand battle for the capital.
